I have a dream foundation was formed to provide all the children from the less privileged areas with the opportunities to continue basic as well as higher education. These children generally belong to low income -high violence areas and show a tendency towards dropping out of school before completing formal education. The foundation empowers such children with the skills, knowledge, and habits they need to gain entry to higher education and succeed in college and beyond. By doing so, the foundation is putting them on a different academic and life trajectory, while having a broader impact on the students' families and the generations that follow.

Besides monetary assistance, the foundation also helps them by guiding, mentoring and providing direction to keep them on the road to success. Many have come forward to support the foundation in its mission. Beginning in February of 2002, Deep South volunteer employees adopted 19 underprivileged children from the Foundation. In addition to providing a $5,000 grant to I Have a Dream, David Disiere, the CEO of Deep South, opened his 3,000-acre Cedar Bluff Ranch for a weekend to all 19 Dreamers, as the children are known.

During the event, the children toured the barns and pens as David explained the ranching business, selling of cattle, breeding, reproduction, and life expectancy. The children also enjoyed an evening bonfire, down home barbecue and an impromptu talent show. The goal of the weekend was to share new experiences, tie business together with the need for formal education, and keep an eye on high school graduation. The children enjoyed thoroughly as they participated in horseback riding, sack races, water balloon, egg throwing contests, tug-o'-war and horseshoes
