As a newbie to this industry we were excited to have found a forum that we believed would encourage one another. We have only found comments like tooser and other negative remarks. If someone wanted to make comments about our business model they should first have asked what it was. I am sure our business advisors from Austrade an Australian government organization that we recieved a RD grant from and our vc firm and managment advisors would disagree with your members comments. What a shame if we encourage one another we all could all benifit. _________________ Rates Your DateŽ We do not rate how someone looks. | i've looked on this site from time to time, hoping something good will come of the forum but no one sees to want to do anything positive except sell there software platforms, market their site and so on, all of which does not seem to cover nuts and bolts of what we need... |

|
|
It seems to be a place to rant, newbies asking how to get into this billion dollar business. People promoting their own sites and having to justify to strangers why their business model is superior. What else could this forum be for? Everyone wants to promote their businesses, announce to the world they are out there. My friend has a business who is in the top 10 of every search engine but she is not here promoting. I know she will be at this conference as I am looking after her dogs.
So for those who have written what this forum is about, check out the subjects. Yes, it is to tell the world about your business, yes it is about throwing your 2 cents worth in about who will last, and yes it is about people flogging their software, products etc. Where else would you go? It is not like this forum is overflowing with the general public. The comments are made by newbies, wannabies and people flogging the site that they feel is the latest answer to help people meet online. As for the chemistry side of it, no site can give you that...it is something you feel when you are not typing through a computer. |

Actually it's not just this site but any investors we talk to. Of course were based in Chicago so people here are to conservative. And what were doing is more on swinger mode.
I would like to know if you point us the right direction for some investors.
You say you have VC money, just be careful with VC investors a lot of time they set high standards that can't be met and then they swoop in and take over the whole company.
You can email me at jmflirt@yahoo.com maybe there is some way we can work together |

The forum becoming more helpful starts with you and I. Why not start new discussions and channel positive thoughts into those discussions?
Face it, online dating is the best medium possible to find awesome people to date. My own experience has been nothing but outstanding. By networking our thoughts, ideas, comments, and opinions we can help the industry as a whole.
The fact that eHarmony is marrying off around 33,000 members a year is quite impressive. And the types/number of niche sites out there are remarkable.
IDATE has provided a great opportunity here for us to get more involved in communicating with each other and starting new discussions. It's a matter of choosing to be involved and being a positive contributor.

| I just found this site and too was looking for a little more direction and info as I'm "thinking" about getting into the online dating biz. Everyone above made valid comments. Since there are those of us that are new to this thing why not start a new post or topic "For Newbies Only" that way we can share our experiences, share resources, recommend or not sevices, people, etc and go from there. |
